Types of Cyprus Study Visas

Student Visa for Cyprus (Short Stay Visa): This visa is for students who wish to study for a short period (less than 90 days), such as for a summer course or exchange program.

Long-Stay Study Visa: If your course lasts for more than 90 days, you’ll need to apply for a long-stay study visa. This is the most common type for international students attending universities in Cyprus.

Cyprus Study Visa Requirements

Students from the following countries are required to apply for a TRNC study visa immediately after receiving their Unconditional Acceptance Letter. It is also advisable for students to check if they need a Turkish transit visa. Please note that having a TRNC study visa does not guarantee entry into the TRNC; the final decision will be made by immigration officers upon the student’s arrival at any TRNC port of entry. Students must carry all original educational documents, including certificates and transcripts. Additionally, it is essential to confirm accommodation arrangements before departing from your home country.

The countries that require a TRNC visa are as follows:

  • Syrian Arab Republic
  • Federal Republic of Nigeria
  • Republic of Armenia
  • Pakistan

Applications must be submitted in person at the nearest TRNC Representative Office or Consulate General. For a complete list of TRNC missions abroad, please click here. Students from countries not listed above can obtain an entry visa upon arrival at any TRNC port of entry. To enter the TRNC, you are allowed to travel with your acceptance letter from our university. If you require further assistance, please contact our International Admissions Office.

Turkish airport transit visa:

Students from the 57 countries listed below are required to obtain a Turkish double transit visa to travel to North Cyprus via any Turkish airport. It is essential to secure this transit visa before purchasing flight tickets or making other travel arrangements. Below is a table that lists the countries whose residents need a Turkish transit visa, along with the nearest Turkish diplomatic missions or visa application centre’s where students can apply.

Students from countries not mentioned above do not need a transit visa to travel to North Cyprus. However, for those from the specified countries, we strongly recommend visiting the Turkish embassy’s website or contacting government-authorized visa application centers for information on the visa application process and required documents. If there are no Turkish embassies or consulates in your vicinity, please apply through the nearest Turkish mission in your country.
