Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School at Cyprus West University

The Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School at Cyprus West University is responsible for ensuring that students enrolling in English-taught programs acquire the necessary language proficiency and for conducting English and second foreign language courses offered in all undergraduate programs.

Students starting programs that will be taught in English at Cyprus West University must document their language proficiency. They can present results from English exams recognized by YÖK. Students without a valid English exam result must take the Cyprus West University English Proficiency Exam. The outcome of this exam determines whether the student will need to attend the English Preparatory Class and, if so, which level they will begin at.

The Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School (Cyprus West University) is responsible for the ENGL 101 and ENGL 102 courses in English-taught programs, as well as the INGL 101 and INGL 102 courses in Turkish-taught programs. All of these courses are mandatory, and students must pass them to graduate.

The ENGL 101 and ENGL 102 courses aim to further develop the language proficiency of students who already possess it, familiarize them with academic English, and enhance their language skills needed for daily life.

On the other hand, the INGL 101 and INGL 102 courses in Turkish-taught programs are designed to equip students with basic English skills.

Course Contents: ENGL 101, ENGL 102, INGL 101, INGL 102.
